360 Video Underwater in Belize – “It was an amazing trip!”, says Jerry Cummins of J&D Scuba. “I like to pick unique dive locations for my dive trips and this was not only the first time for this location but an honor to be part of the 360 Video underwater history. Michael Kintner, the CEO/Founder of 360Heros was one of my scuba diving students; and when Mr. Kintner asked if I would be interested in testing some new equipment, I was excited. We spent about an hour the day before leaving and was demonstrated the in’s and out’s of the 360 Heros Scuba Edition as well as using the GoPro Hero 3 Black cameras. Between learning the new cameras and the 360 Heros unit, I was amazed at how simple it was to use. I was little nervous because I really wanted to help Mike with his new scuba 360 camera invention, along with being part of the first real 360 video scuba diving test. I couldn’t believe how small and simple it was to operate. I just wanted to thank Mike for letting me be part of this amazing new system.”

The 360 Heros 360 Scuba Edition is a patent pending project developed in partnership with Snake River Prototyping and will be released for production some time later in the second quarter of 2013. Some of the neat features of the 360 Heros 360 Scuba Video gear is it will be rated to 120 feet deep with snap on/off interchangeable color correcting filters.

The real exciting part about this whole project is, this is where it all started for me, (Michael Kintner) the founder of 360Heros. Several years ago I was scuba diving in Cozumel, Mexico and missed the amazing shark and sting ray behind me. From that point forward I wanted to build a device to know whats all around me. Now through the power of 3D printing and this amazing machine called CubeX, I can produce a product right from my own home office and start using it in a real world applications. 60% of the 360 Heros Scuba Edition is using the 3D printed material, along with the 360 GoPro Cameras, and another special patent pending device to allow the viewer to be immersed in this amazing 360 underwater world solution.

Making of Alfred State Project (HD Video)

Alfred, NY – The project in Alfred State is now even more interesting! You can see how we made the project and the variety of different resources used to make this project work.

Each of the projects are highlighted below:

Facebook Tagging using Gigatag – The ability to zoom high detail and Facebook tag your self.

Monster Photo called a Gigapan – The ability to zoom high detail inside an ultra high-resolution photo.

360 Interactive Panorama – The ability to take a 360 Interactive Virtual Tour around the New Student commencement.

The project took several days of planning and only 15 minutes to complete and what a challenge it was to direct 1,300 new students and faculty into the Pioneer Stadium in the shape of the Alfred logo ‘A’ then shoot

100 Photos in 3.5 minutes for the Gigapan.

2012 Alfred State (Gigatag) Facebook tagging in monster photo.

Alfred, NY – The project in Alfred State is now even more interesting! You can now Facebook tag you photo within the New Student Convocation via the project from Gigapan called Gigatag.

Yep, that’s right Facebook tagging of yourself within the monster gigapan photo.
The challenge was we need to arrange 1,300 students and faculty into the shape of an ‘A’ then shoot 80 photos within 3 minutes and stitch then all into one monster photo called a Gigpan. Here is the link to the actual Gigapan project. Then after the Gigapan we created a whole series of interactive i360Views of the event throughout the day. 2012 Alfred State – (360 Pano) of New Student Commencement

Alfred, NY – Our challenge for Alfred this year was during new student orientation. We needed to create an interactive presentation of the new students during orientation and then the ability to link the story back to the social media networks for presentation.

We decided to create panos of the commencement in the Gym as well as multiple 360 Interactive Panoramas allowing student to see all around the event.

2012 Rally in the Valley (Gigapan – Monster Photo)

Olean, NY – The project consists of trying to capture quickly the motorcycles as they roll in to the stadium in a Gigapan photo. A Gigapan is a photo that consists of many photos stitched into one monster photo. In this case we have 154 photos stitched into one photo that is 11.6 Gigabytes in file size or 63,446 pixels wide by 21,339 pixels tall. This means I could print this photo 66 Feet Wide and 27 Feet Tall and be so detailed you could read the logos off their jackets.

The other challenge was trying to shoot the photo fast enough to ensure you don’t get duplicate motorcycles or people as they walk around the event. You’ll see I got Dennis Jones in two places however that’s because he always running around quickly.

Alfred State College (Gigapan) New Student Commencement

We decided to create to three different presentations for this project. A Gigapan photo which is an Ultra High Resolution photo consisting of several hundred photos stitched together, several 360 Interactive Panoramas allowing student to see all around the event and then follow-up with a HD Video.

The Gigapan was the first big challenge. We had to put 1,300 students and facility into the shape of an ‘A’ on the Pioneer Stadium football field stretching from 30 yard line on both sides of the field. Then shoot an estimated 600 photos in 6 minutes at 19 mega pixels each. The project size just in photos alone was estimated at 11.4 gigabytes. This is where the term Gigapan comes from.

Gus Macker Basketball Festival

Olean, NY – Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball, America’s largest outdoor basketball tournament, was held in Olean from August 17-19, 2012. Brackets, basketballs, backboards and bragging rights are all part of the Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball tournament. The tournament was played on streets in downtown, Delaware Avenue and North Barry, surrounded by plenty of places to shop, dine, or just chill out in between games. The Olean City School District Foundation and OHS Sports Boosters bring the 5th annual Gus Macker Olean to you.
